December 14: Investigating Electricity
Are you ready to spark some fun with your family? Join us for an electrifying event where you’ll discover the wonders of electricity. Throughout the Neon Boneyard we dive into a scavenger hunt where we will learn about neon buzz, the different types of lightbulbs used in the boneyard, and how units of neon are like Christmas lights. You’ll discover how circuits work, create static electricity with balloons, see how lightning is created, what sustainable energy means in Nevada, and much more.
January 11: Let’s Make Music
Get Ready to Groove at STEAM Saturday! This month, we’re diving into the rhythm of the Neon Boneyard! Explore the rich connection between music and iconic locations in our collection, like the Kim Sisters’ performances at the Stardust Hotel & Casino, and the International Mariachi Festival at The Aladdin in the 90s. Unleash your creativity by crafting your own instruments, enjoy live performances by musicians, and learn to play sheet music with BoomWhackers. Discover how music is deeply intertwined with our collection!
STEAM Saturdays is sponsored by Fenton Grant Kaneda & Litt, LLP, The Les Paul Foundation, Speedway Children’s Charities, Meow Wolf, Cox Charities, and the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and the state of Nevada.
