Off-Site Older Adult Field Trips

The Neon Museum offers two field trip experiences for older adults: on-site and off-cite. Groups are welcome to book multiple days and multiple experiences. Our off-site field trips are staff guided experiences with optional activities. These sessions include a tour of The Neon Museum using a projected 3D model of the Museum. This is accompanied by artifacts that participants can touch. The session length can be 30 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes, whatever best accommodate your group. Please note that off-site field trips require a projector and a reliable Wifi connection.

Please email programs@neonmuseum.org with any questions or concerns.

WHAT IS AN OFF-SITE FIELD TRIP

Off-site field trips take place at your location, where The Neon Museum staff serve as guest speakers for your organization. These guided sessions include a virtual tour using a projected 3D model of the Museum and hands-on interaction with select artifacts. Programs can run between 30 minutes and 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on what works best for your group. A projector and reliable Wi-Fi connection are required.

WHAT IS A 3D TOUR

A 3D tour is a virtual walk-through of The Neon Museum using a digitally mapped model of our outdoor collection. This interactive experience mimics an in-person tour with ability to zoom in on signs, and learn their stories with no walking required. It’s a great way to experience the Museum from your own space, especially for individuals who may face mobility or groups that face transportation challenges.

KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK

Off-Site Field Trip Length

All sessions can be between 30 mins to 1 hour and 30 minutes. This includes a brief welcome, an introduction to the Museum, and the guided tour.

For Public Entities & Private Entities

Cost: No charge
Currently, The Neon Museum covers all costs to send staff to off-site locations to lead an off-site field trip experience. In return, we ask that your group complete a short post-visit survey. This feedback helps us improve our programs and serves as a form of exchange for the experience.

OFF-SITE FIELD TRIP EXPERIENCE

About the Session

Off-site field trips are available on weekdays between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. While we do our best to accommodate your group’s preferred date and time, sessions must fall within this window to align with staff availability. These sessions take place at your organization’s location and are led by Museum staff. They include a presentation using a 3D model of the Neon Boneyard, optional hands-on activities with artifacts, and opportunities for participants to share personal stories sparked by the signs. Session length is flexible, typically lasting between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours based on your group’s needs.

Each session includes:
  • A brief welcome presentation introducing the museum
  • A 3D tour presentation by staff
  • Optional activities such as a scavenger hunt or discovery guide
  • Hands-on interaction with artifacts
Group Size
  • Maximum: 30 older adults per field trip session
  • Larger groups may book multiple sessions on the same date or various dates.
Chaperone Policy

We require that at least one staff member or volunteer from your organization be present during the session to assist with participant needs such as bathroom breaks or water. As guests in your space, Museum staff are unable to provide this type of support. We also ask that any caregivers accompanying participants remain in the room throughout the session.
