The Neon Museum appoints two new directors to leadership team

Frederick Hubbs Jr. to Serve as Director of Philanthropy and Jeff Tackett as Director of Collections and Exhibitions

The Neon Museum has appointed two new directors to its leadership team. This includes Frederick Hubbs Jr. as Director of Philanthropy and Jeff Tackett as Director of Collections and Exhibitions.

“The Neon Museum is entering an exciting chapter, with record attendance and the upcoming launch of new programs,” said Aaron Berger, Executive Director of The Neon Museum. “As we grow, it’s essential to have the right talent in place to guide that evolution thoughtfully and creatively. Frederick and Jeff bring the experience and vision we need to build on our momentum. Their leadership will help us expand our impact and continue telling the vibrant story of Las Vegas in new and compelling ways.”

Frederick Hubbs, Jr. Director of Philanthropy

Frederick Hubbs Jr., Director of Philanthropy – Hubbs offers over a decade of nonprofit leadership experience to his role as Director of Philanthropy. He has held senior roles at the Las Vegas Philharmonic and Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. Throughout his career, Frederick has consistently excelled at securing major gifts; building and sustaining corporate sponsorships; deepening donor engagement and elevating organizational visibility through strategic marketing and community partnerships, all while leading diverse teams to achieve ambitious goals. He holds a B.A. in Art History and Visual Culture from San Jose State University.

Jeff Tackett - Director of Collection and Exhibitions

Jeff Tackett, Director of Collections and Exhibitions – Tackett brings more than 20 years of experience in museums and exhibition design to his role at The Neon Museum. He previously served as Senior Experiential Designer at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and managed national traveling exhibition programs at Mid-America Arts Alliance. Tackett’s expertise includes exhibition and environmental design, didactics, wayfinding and extensive brand and marketing creation. He holds an M.F.A. from the Savannah College of Art and Design and a B.F.A. from the University of Central Missouri.

Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, The Neon Museum is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization known for illuminating the cultural essence of the city by sharing iconic signage, diverse collections and stories that define its vibrant past, present and future. Its campus includes the outdoor exhibition space known as the Neon Boneyard; a visitors’ center housed inside the former La Concha Motel lobby; and the Neon Boneyard North Gallery, which is currently home to the immersive light show experience, “Brilliant! Jackpot.”

Founded in 1996, The Neon Museum achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) in 2021, the highest national honor for museums in the United States. Situated on a 2.27-acre campus, the Museum features:

  • The Neon Boneyard: An outdoor exhibition space displaying historic signs no longer in use.
  • The North Gallery: Home to Brilliant! Jackpot, an immersive audiovisual experience that re-illuminates over 40 non-operational signs using advanced technology.
  • The Boulevard Gallery: A transitional space showcasing collection pieces.
  • The Visitors’ Center: Located in the iconic former La Concha Motel lobby designed by famed architect Paul Revere Williams.
  • The Neon Boneyard Park: A green space where visitors can learn more of Las Vegas’ rich history.

The museum’s collection also includes 15 restored signs displayed as public art in downtown Las Vegas collectively known as The Las Vegas Boulevard Scenic Byway Project and additional pieces on loan to non-profits and government entities. Its ongoing initiatives encompass public education, outreach, research, and arts preservation.

Recently, The Neon Museum announced plans for a relocation and expansion to the Arts District in downtown Las Vegas. Updates will be shared soon.
