Each March, a unique theme is selected by the National Women’s History Alliance to commemorate Women’s History Month from an inclusive range of people and voices. The theme for 2025 is “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations.” The figures highlighted this month at The Neon Museum—online, in person, and across social media—are all educators or activists who have played an integral role in Las Vegas’ rich history. From teacher and local historian Helen J. Stewart, who founded the Las Vegas Grammar School in 1922, to activist and organizer Ruby Duncan, who has devoted nearly 50 years to welfare reform, this collection of figures spotlights an eclectic array of roles, identities, and perspectives.
