Memoir Workshops
Older adults joined a fantastic writing workshop series at The Neon Museum with Joylynn M. Ross, an award-winning author and teaching artist, titled ‘What Happened to You In Vegas’! In this series, participants used their pens to travel back in time to their favorite memories from the amazing city of Las Vegas. They collected and documented their own personal stories, memorable moments, or essays to write memoirs or books, with an opportunity to share them with others. Participants spent time drawing inspiration from the Neon Boneyard, where the museum’s collection of bright, historic Las Vegas signs helped them to explore their past. At the conclusion of the 5-session series, we hosted a private reading where participants read excerpts of their writings for family and friends. Our engagement with older adults nurtures creativity and fosters connections among attendees as they delve into the rich tapestry of their memories.
