K-12 Field Trips
Field trip requests become available every year during CCSD Spring Break!
The Neon Museum offers five standards-aligned K–12 field trip programs grounded in our collection of iconic Las Vegas signs and stories. Our field trips take students out of the classroom and into the Neon Boneyard for interdisciplinary exploration of science, social studies, and visual arts topics for all grade levels and school types.
Thanks to generous support from the Marlon Foundation and the Neon Foundation, field trip admission and transportation is offered to Title I and CCSD schools at no cost.
NOTE: We are aware that CCSD schools and teachers are navigating bell schedule changes heading into the 2026/2027 school year. Modified school trip start times will be arranged as necessary.
The Neon Museum offers two field trip experiences: museum guided and self-guided. Groups are welcome to book multiple days and multiple experiences.
Please email education@neonmuseum.org with any questions or concerns.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the difference between a guided and self-guided field trip?
Guided field trips are facilitated by The Neon Museum’s learning team. Teachers may choose from science, social studies, or visual arts topics as the focus for their guided field trip. These field trips feature an introduction to the Museum, interactive activity, and a guided tour of the Neon Boneyard. While chaperones do not lead this experience, they are expected to foster a positive learning environment for their students.
During self-guided field trips, The Neon Museum learning team members provide a brief introduction to the museum and are present in the gallery to engage with students and answer questions while students complete a Discovery Guide or teacher-provided activity.
What time are field trips?
Guided: Tuesday-Friday from 10:00 am-12:00 pm.
Self-guided: occur the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month from 10:00-11:00 am, 11:15 am-12:15 pm, or 12:30-1:30 pm.
We are aware that CCSD schools and teachers are navigating bell schedule changes heading into the 2026/2027 school year. Modified school trip start times will be arranged as necessary.
How is transportation and bus reimbursement arranged?
Schools are responsible for organizing their own transportation to The Neon Museum.
Bus Reimbursement is available through grant funding for Title I and CCSD schools.
After your field trip has completed, we will request your school’s W9 and proof of payment for transportation, such as an invoice, to process bus reimbursements.
Please note, if your school uses a charter bus, reimbursement will be limited to standard CCSD bus rates.
I homeschool my children. How can I sign up for a field trip?
Homeschool groups or coalitions can request a field trip via our booking request link located above.
Please keep in mind the minimum and maximum attendance requirements for each type of field trip must be met for us to accommodate your group.
How many chaperones do you require?
We have a strict chaperone ratio policy to ensure the best possible learning experience for students. Required Chaperone Ratio:
- Kindergarten through 2nd Grade: 1 adult per 6 students
- 3rd through 12th Grade: 1 adult per 8 students
- Chaperones providing 1:1 assistance to students must be approved prior to the field trip.
Extra unapproved chaperones are not permitted.
My child’s class is coming on a field trip. How do I come with them?
All chaperones must be arranged through your child’s school. Chaperone numbers must be communicated to our learning team prior to your child’s field trip.
Every chaperone must complete a Chaperon Agreement to participate in a field trip.
The museum is closed to the public during field trips. To ensure student safety, additional individuals interested in attending their child’s field trip will not be admitted.
I have been confirmed as a chaperone for my child’s field trip. Can I bring my child who is not in the class?
Our field trips are intended to be educational and engaging for specific grade levels and class subjects that educators have selected for their students. As a chaperone we ask you to support the students’ education and safety at the Museum. Children who are not part of the class are not permitted on field trips as guests of a chaperone.
How can I request accessibility accommodation for students, teachers, or chaperones attending a field trip?
To ensure the best experience for all participants, the field trip request form includes a section where educations can provide accommodation details for attendees. If you have any questions, concerns, or additional accommodation requests, please contact us at education@neonmuseum.org.
Can we arrive early or stay after the field trip?
During field trips, the museum is closed to the public and open exclusively to school groups. As a result, groups are not permitted to arrive early or stay beyond their scheduled visit.
Can my group have lunch at the Museum after our visit?
Food and drinks are not allowed inside The Neon Museum. If your group would like to eat lunch on site, you must request access to the Boneyard Park across the street from the Museum. Museum staff will not be on site to assist once the field trip has ended.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that some field trips may be booked more than a year in advance. Throughout the school year, we send reminder emails to confirm your trip. If you need to cancel, please provide at least six weeks’ notice so we can offer the opportunity to another CCSD school on our waitlist.
While we understand that unexpected situations may arise, schools that cancel with less than two weeks’ notice may not be invited to return the following year.
No-show groups who do not provide at least 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a $100 cancellation fee billed directly to the school.
Is the gift shop open during my field trip?
The gift shop may be open depending on teacher preference. Teachers must indicate whether or not they would like the gift shop open during their field trip in the booking request form.
