CAROLYN WHEELER

The Neon Museum

Carolyn Wheeler has been a dedicated advocate for the Las Vegas community for over 25 years. Most recently, she held the position of Senior Manager of Community Relations and Internal Communications at The Mirage Las Vegas. In this role, she established the strategic framework for the property’s corporate giving and volunteer programs, ensuring alignment with community needs and the company’s priorities such as workforce, anti-human trafficking, education, environmental sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Additionally, she played a crucial role in the closure of the property by facilitating the transition of 3,300 employees to new roles within the company and the community through workforce workshops, hiring events, and resource connections.

Prior to her time at The Mirage, Wheeler served as the Executive Director of the Downtown Vegas Alliance (DVA), a nonprofit organization that connects its members and downtown stakeholders to influence growth in the heart of Las Vegas. In this role, she brought together businesses, government and community partners through thought leadership and collaboration to build awareness and drive the strategic direction for the organization and the downtown Las Vegas community.

Before her role at DVA, she worked as the Director of Philanthropy and Corporate Social Responsibility Marketing for Caesar’s Entertainment, where she bridged the gap between the company’s commitment to environmental and social sustainability and its internal and external audiences. Wheeler also served as the Director of the Caesars Foundation, cultivating relationships with community partners to enhance the impact of financial contributions through the involvement of Caesars’ volunteers and governance.

Carolyn is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.A. in Sociology and holds an M.A. in Urban Leadership from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has actively participated in the Leadership Las Vegas program and continues to be deeply involved in the Las Vegas community through her service on multiple non-profit boards and advisory committees and will be teaching Business Communications at UNLV in the spring.
